MARTIN ARTHUR PELECHATY February 1, 1944 - September 6, 2002 Passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Mary Ann; son Mark and wife Karen; grandsons, Aaron and Jared; daughter Jona and fiance Rick Downey; also his aunt Amy Blaker; and many cousins and friends. Martin was born in Killarney to Joe and Alice (Benge) Pelechaty. He attended school there and began farming with his father at an early age. He studied cello in Winnipeg for eight years and became an accomplished soloist sharing his talent with many people over the years. Farming became his profession, which he practiced in the Riverside district until 1983, when he and his family moved to Winnipeg. Here he worked in the trucking industry until his illness. Martin was an enthusiast with many interests and hobbies - music, ancient and North American native history, photography, sports, constructing classic model cars. He was a dedicated family man and enjoyed many hours on motorcycle trips and camping with family and friends. He will be missed by us all. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the WRHA Palliative Care Sub-Program, A8024-409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care and compassion of the people of the Palliative Care Program and doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba. Cremation has taken place and a service for the celebration of Martins life will be held on Thursday, September 12, at 4:00 p.m., at Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave., Winnipeg, 832-6071. Killarney and Boissevain Funeral Home Ltd. entrusted with arrangements.
