ELFRIEDA NEUFELD Elfrieda (Vogt) Neufeld, born on February 17, 1918, in Chortiza, Ukraine, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2002, in Steinbach. She was predeceased by her loving husband Herman in 1995. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Neufeld and Barbara (Harv) Lane; and her son John Eric (Christiane) Neufeld; her grandchildren Shannon (Colin) Bendell, Julia and Karla Lane, Patrick, Nicholas and Stefan Neufeld; and dear friends, Wally and Irene Rempel. Frieda will be remembered for her pioneering work with special needs children. Many children have been the recipients of Omas hand-knitted sweaters. She was passionate about family and passed on its history. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 11 at 10:3 a.m. at Grace Mennonite Church, 430 Third St., Steinbach. Special thanks to Dr. Kaethler and the staff at Bethesda Hospital.
