WILLIAM (BILL) CHORNOPYSKI Peacefully, on Wednesday, September 11, 2002, with his family by his side, William, husband of Elsie, passed away at the age of 80, at the Morris General Hospital. His father George; mother Verna; and brothers, John, Nick, and Peter, predeceased Bill. Bill is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Elsie (nee Wagner) children, Bob (Debbie Regier), Ken (Carol), Connie Schau (Warren) and Ron. His grand-children, Michael (Samantha), Riley Schau, Cory Schau, Jennifer (fiance Kevin Erin), Danny, Billy Raill. His sister Mary Narynski, his daughter-in-law Mary, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many, many friends. Bill thrived on honest hard work and excelled at his endeavours. He served in the Armed Forces (Second World War). Earned a living for his family at C.P.R. for 23 years; from 1966 to 1971 he became a General Motors Master Sales Leader. In 1971 to 1973 he was the Owner/Operator of the Arlington Athletic Club. 1974 marked the beginning of Bills successful political career when he was elected to City Council in the Mynarski Ward. In November of 1982 Bill was elected Deputy Mayor of Winnipeg and appointed to the Executive Policy Committee. Setting his goals of public service higher, Bill sought Provincial political office and was elected in the Burrows Constituency as an M.L.A. in 1988 at which time he earned the respect of many colleagues and was appointed Deputy Speaker of the House of the Manitoba Legislature. Bill retired after serving the people of his community, to a way of life that was always dear to him, a life of nature, hard work and personal satisfaction on his small farm on the land he was born on near Sundown, MB. Bill was blessed with many pleasurable years on the farm he loved and close to his family and grandchildren who gave him his greatest joy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Reception to follow service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
