SOPHIE SANFRIA BANCARZ (nee MICHALUK) Peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2002, Sophie, beloved wife of Joseph, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 85. Sophie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Joseph of 47 years; niece Linda (Raymond) DeGagne; great-nephews, Corey (Christa) and their daughter Kiara, Russell (Darcie) and Darryl (Lydia) nephew Emil (Karen) Zibresky and family (Regina) and brother-in-law Mike Bancarz (Roblin). She was predeceased by her parents, Dmitro and Casandra (Michaluk) brothers, Alexander (Helen), George and John. Sophie was one of the original members of the Point Douglas area, living there for many years. Sophie worked for many years with Burns and Co. until her retirement. Her many happy times were spent caring for her garden and her beautiful flowers. She was a long time member of St. Ivan Suchavsky Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In her youth she sang with the church choir. Sophies kind and caring ways have touched the hearts of many who knew her. Prayers will be held on Monday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with funeral service to be held on Tuesday, September 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ivan Suchavsky Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 939 Main St. with Rev. Fr. Cornell W. Zubritsky officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
