MARJORIE ISABEL WHITESIDE On Sunday, September 1, 2002 at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman, MB, Marjorie (Marge) Isabel Whiteside, aged 91 years, beloved wife of the late Fraser Whiteside of Carman. Marge was born September 7, 1910 in Carman. She married Fraser Whiteside on December 27, 1934. Together they raised a family of five in Carman. Marge was predeceased by her husband, Fraser July 14, 1985. She is survived by four daughters and one son, Judith (Ed) Shayna of Winnipeg, Janice (Jim) Stow of Graysville, Marilee (Ray) Mutcher of Carman, Nancy (Alex) Soutar of Calgary and Doug (Pat) Whiteside of Deloraine; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are one sister, Iona (Ian) Hind of Penticton and three brothers, Stan (Rilda) Carr of Carman, Cliff Carr of Carman and Bill (Inga) Carr of Winnipeg. Marge was raised in the Brigdenly district, the oldest of five children born to Jack and Alice Carr. She moved to Carman with her husband, Fraser in 1939 and they moved to the present home in 1940. She was very proud of the fact that she was able to stay in her home for the remaining 62 years of her life. Marge was very active in community organisations including: Young Citizens Group, United Church Women, Dufferin Agricultural Society, and was especially devoted to the Carman Flood Diversion Committee, working hard to see the Diversion come to reality. The family wish to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Dreyer and the staff at Carman Hospital for the compassionate care given to Mom. Special thanks also to the Home Care workers, Sherlie and Leona, and to the thoughtful sociable crew at the Congregate Meal Program. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Marges life will be held Thursday, September 19 in the Carman United Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating.
