JAMES JUIN COATES (JIM)
Date of Passing: Sep 13, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES JUIN COATES (JIM) Sadly, we wish to announce the very peaceful passing of our Dad, Grampa and brother on September 13, 2002, with his loving family by his side. He leaves to mourn his daughter, Lori Dusessoy, grandchildren, Dustin and Danielle and daughter Karen (Craig, Sarah and Jonathan) brother Paul; sisters, Margaret and Elaine. He was predeceased by his wife Valdena in April of this year; also by his parents, Andrew and Damey; brothers, Laurie, Bob, Bud and Al and sister Dorothy. Dad was born in Zealandia, SK on December 13, 1916. The family soon moved to Winnipeg, settling in Elmwood. Although Dad had a very happy childhood with many great stories to relate to his children, there were also many hardships due to the depression in the 1930s. He fought overseas in the Second World War. He worked as a cook in a northern mine, always managing to send money to his Mom back home. He was a very generous man. Dad married Mom in 1950 and together they built their home and raised two daughters. He worked for Canada Customs until his retirement in 1978. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle manner, his love of birds, music, fishing, fixing everything and anything that needed fixing and especially his talent for oil painting, sketching and writing poetry. He will be very sadly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at the GoldenWest Centennial Lodge for the loving care of our Dad. Also, thank you to Gull Wing Transit for enabling us to bring Dad home twice a week. A private service will be held with burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2.
