LENA KOWALKE Mrs. Adeline (Lena) Kowalke, aged 82 years, beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Kowalke, of Beausejour, passed away tragically on Friday, September 13, 2002 at Beausejour, MB. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Art (Diana), Ron (May) and Lenard (Lynette) and her daughters, Grace (Cliff Patzer) and Bernice (Dennis Rach) her son-in-law Stanley Woloshyn; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Ed Neurenberg; and her sisters, Adelle Patzer, Hilda (Martin Zirk), Lizzie Hemminger, Eleanor Gatzke; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill; sisters, Irene Frank, Lillian (in infancy) and her parents, Ferdinand and Alwine Neurenberg. She passed away with her daughters, Norma Woloshyn and Darlene Zirk. Mom was born on June 30, 1920 in Friedensfeld, MB. She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Friedensfeld. Mom and Pop (William Kowalke) were married on September 24, 1937. During their second year of marriage, they homesteaded to Glenmoor, MB where they farmed and raised their family of seven children. They were members of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Lowland from its founding, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aide. After the closing of St. Pauls, the family became members of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Greenwald where she remained a member until her passing. Mom stayed at home to raise her family, work on the farm, grow a large garden and did much canning. Upon retirement, they sold the farm and built a new home in Tyndall, MB. Here she was able to devote more of her time to growing flowers, take up ceramics, crocheting, knitting and working on various crafts, although her arthritic hands made these things very difficult for her. In 1997, they sold their home in Tyndall and moved to Stony Plains Terrace in Beausejour. While living here, she enjoyed attending church and other functions at East Gate Lodge. She never missed attending when the Blumenort Ladies Choir came to sing. Mom loved socializing with family and friends. She never gave up working on her much loved hobbies. Her family was very important to her and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Pallbearers will be Rob Hillier, Doug Kintop, Don and Sidney Hemminger, Steven Fosty, Lorne Anderson, and Alan Neurenberg. Mom, you will be greatly missed by your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and foster grandchildren. We know that you have been joyfully reunited with Pop. Your dear daughters, Norma and Darlene, who cared for you so lovingly here on Earth, now with you eternally. With love always, Your family SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB toll free 1-877-776-2220
