DARLENE ZIRK (nee KOWALKE) Darlene Zirk, aged 51 years of Beausejour, MB, tragically passed away on September 13, 2002 in Beausejour. She will be missed more than words will ever be able to say by her children, Melissa, Matthew, Gavin and Ashley; her brothers, Art Kowalke (Diane), Ron Kowalke (May) Lenard Kowalke (Lynette) and sisters, Grace Patzer (Clifford) and Bernice Rach (Dennis) her brother-in-law Stan Woloshyn; her many nieces and nephews and her friends, too numerous to count. She was predeceased by her father William Kowalke and passed away with her mother Lena Kowalke and her sister Norma Woloshyn. Darlene was born in Beausejour on June 23, 1951. Being the youngest of seven children, she was Mommas little girl and everyones little darling. Darlene attended Overwater School and later, Beausejour Collegiate. Darlene was raised in the Lutheran faith attending Sunday School, and baptized and confirmed at the Lowland Church. She was married to Ken Zirk at the Greenwald Lutheran Church on October 14, 1972. Mom worked in both Winnipeg and Pinawa, before settling down to have children. She gave birth to two children, Melissa (June 18, 1980) and Matthew (September 21, 1983) and committed all of her time to raising us. She was an active member of St. Johns Greenwald, teaching VBS and Sunday School and serving as Sunday School superintendent. After her divorce in 1991, Darlene began to work at the Beausejour Hospital in Housekeeping and Laundry. She then decided to further her education, and received her Health Care Aide certificate from Red River College in 1994. She had been working as a Health Care Aide ever since and also held a position in CSR at the hospital. Mom was a devoted employee and loved her job and would often go beyond her required duties. Even while working full time, Mom constantly worked to keep up her house and yard... she had the most beautiful flowers... and she still managed to take the best care of us and Grandma. Mom was the friendliest woman, and loved everything in life. Her enthusiasm for life made every holiday, birthday and anniversary an exciting event for all of us. She loved going out and having a good time whether it be with her family, her bowling or curling team, or her numerous other friends. At work and at home, Mom gave selflessly of herself, never expecting anything in return. Mom was already working as an angel here on Earth and God has decided that she already deserves to reap the benefits of heaven. While she has left us in body, her strong-willed spirit will live on with us forever. Mom, you are the most beautiful and loving person we know... We love you and miss you more than we can express. Pallbearers will be nephews Shawn, Richard and Terry Kowalke, David Rach, Warren Zirk, Grant Plischke and Mark Fosty.
