JAMES HERBERT "HERB" CAMPBELL January 20, 1926 - September 15, 2002 Peacefully, on Sunday, September 15, 2002 Herb passed away at the Grace General Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his son Charles in 1971; and his parents, Sam and Mary Campbell. Herb is survived by his loving wife Violet of 51 years, his sister Betty Campbell and his brother Harry (Margaret). Herb was a Ham Operator (VE4-AHC) for many years and enjoyed his contacts with many other operators. He joined the R.C.N.V.R. in January 1944 and was discharged in November, 1945. After being discharged, he started work with Rust Labs at the University of Manitoba and retired at the age of 55 in 1981. Herb and Vi enjoyed their many car trips to the US over the years and also odd visits to the casinos. At Herbs request, cremation has taken place and a private service, with the family, will be held at a later date. We wish to express our gratitude to the nurses of the 4th floor at Grace Hospital, for their special care given to Herb over the last six months and also to Dr. Oscar Domki.
