HELEN IRENE HAYES (nee KINGSLAND) July 10, 1933 - September 17, 2002 Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Helen is survived by John Richard, her loving husband; sons, David, Neil (Claire) of Edmonton, Boyd (Jacquie) of Kelowna; daughters, Esther (Grant) Koropatnick, Sharon (Bruce) Brown; son-in-law Rich (Emily) Wilgosh; and 14 grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter Ruth, September 1996; daughter-in-law Susan, July 2001; sisters, Ethel, Dulcie; and brother Cyril. Helen was born in Winnipeg to John and Edith Kingsland (nee Rowsell) who emigrated from Devon, England in 1912 and homesteaded in Gypsumville, MB. As a young girl Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. This commitment demonstrated itself in her lifetime of service to her Lord. Helen attended Britannia, Assiniboine and Linwood Schools in St. James, followed by business college. One early highlight was a 1953 trip to New Zealand to visit her sister Dulcie and husband George Dow and family. She worked at Western Savings & Loan, Fuller Brush and John Deere. Married at St. James Gospel Chapel on June 29, 1957, Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read to her children and grandchildren, teaching them the glories of Gods creation. Helen also enjoyed family camping trips coast to coast across Canada and picking out special gifts for family members. Her happiest moments were spent worshipping God. A private family interment will precede the memorial service. A memorial service to celebrate Helens life will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 23 at Grant Memorial Baptist Church, 877 Wilkes Ave. Mr. Alistair Cameron officiating. Refreshments will be served following the service. The family thanks Drs. Paul Daeninck, A.N. Schroeder, Pat Harris and homecare nurse Caroline Goerz for their love and care shown to Helen. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Faith Bible Camp, P.O. Box 42059, RPO Ferry Road, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3X7. Job 1:21 "...the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised." Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
