WALTER KANIUGA With great sorrow we announce the passing of our brother and uncle Walter Kaniuga at the age of 73. Wally or "Lefty" as he was known to many, was born December 8, 1928. Wally will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his brother Mill and wife Jennie, nephew Pat and his wife Sherry, niece Carol and her husband Jamie, great-niece Julia, great-nephew Noah and friend Hannah. Wally was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Tekla. Raised in the North End, Wally was known city wide during the early 50s for his involvement in baseball, competing for the CUAC baseball team as a southpaw pitcher...leading to his lifelong nickname. Wally proudly worked for Manitoba Hydro for over 34 years in the Stores Department. In retirement, Wally continued to be active in the Hydro-X club, Charleswood Senior Slow Pitch, and bowling. A keen sports observer, he often watched one game on T.V. and listened to another on the radio. He especially enjoyed his daily coffee chats with his friends at McDonalds. Uncle Wallys devotion to family, as well as his generosity, care-free attitude and sense of humour will be fondly remembered. The question "Hey, can we watch the game?" will be missed at future family gatherings. The funeral will take place on Friday, September 20, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Donations in Walters memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
