MAY LARSON (nee COVERDALE) On Tuesday, September 17, 2002 after a brief battle with cancer. Survived by her daughter Liz (Jim) Henderson of Grand Prairie; sons, Lawrence (Julie Jasper) of Canmore, Don (Diane Johnson) of Gunton, Dave (Leslie) of Elgin, Bill (Carol) of Edmonton, Brian (Barb) of Teulon; son-in-law Ernie Dowsett of Calgary; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friend Roy Doyle. Also survived by her sister Louise Campbell; sister-in-law Mary Coverdale; brothers, Allan (Betty), Elmer and Harold (Nora) Coverdale; many relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Clarence in 1985, her daughter Judy in 1996; brothers, Jack and Earl; brother-in-law Elvin Campbell; and her parents. Although she faced many challenges in her life, Mom was a very strong person and was devoted to her family. She lived in the Teulon area all her life. Mom and Dad were married in 1947 and farmed for a few years before moving into town. They raised seven children who greatly appreciated her determination, strong morals, keen intelligence and many talents. Mom had many strong beliefs and was never one to mince her words. Mom loved her garden, especially her flowers. She also enjoyed playing cards and won several trophies for her prowess. She was active in her community: Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Agriculture Society, Museum, Senior Hospital Guild and New Horizons. For many years she served as treasurer and could always be counted on for donations of her baking or handicrafts. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Pallbearers will be her six surviving children. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Teulon Hospital or the Teulon United Church. Many thanks to Drs. Graham and McTaggart and the caring staff of the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they gave Mother. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
