MARIE IRENE ANDERSON (nee McKAY) To honour our mother, we celebrated and commemorate her life. Marie Irene Anderson passed away on Friday, September 20, 2002, at St. Boniface Hospital. She leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Carol (Lynn), Maureen (Rob), Wilson (Ingrid), Elaine (Michael), Scott (Dorothy), and Charlene (Ron) grandchildren, Karla (Brent), Eric (Christine), Matthew, Mark, April, Stacey, Lindsay, Jenesis, and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Emma and Joshua; sisters, Yvonne, Florence; brother George and brother-in-law Roy Pryor; specials friends the Perkins family, Maryanne, Linda, Rose and Sadie, and extended family and friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband Charlie in 1987, and siblings, Gormariadon, Donald, Annette, and Charlie. During her long and full life, Mom was involved in the Youth Bowling Council for many years, first at Dakota Lanes and then at Niakwa. She was a great friend to many a young bowler, one of whom nicknamed her "Big I"a nickname that stuck. Mom also spent many years volunteering at Glenwood Community Club and devoted much time watching her girls play fastball. Most of her working life was spent at Niakwa Pharmacy where she managed the Post Office. Upon retiring, Mom took on the full time job of being "Nana" to her grandchildren and their friends. Last summer Mom was diagnosed with cancer. She was not expected to make it to her birthday; however, her strength and humour came through, giving us additional time and memories. Mom was a real "people" person and always took an interest in others regardless of her own condition. Her concern was not for herself but for her family, friends, or those caring for her in the hospital. Mom and the family greatly appreciated all the care she received on 6A Medicine, 2nd floor, and the Palliative Care Team at St. Boniface Hospital, Dr. H. Unruh, Pastor Marvin Dyck, and CancerCare Manitoba. Mom, you leave a warm spot in the heart of each persons life that you touched and we will miss you until we meet again. Mom believed and clung to the words found in John 14:1-6. According to Moms wishes, cremation and a family graveside service has taken place. A celebration of Moms life took place on Wednesday, September 25. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. "So That was That." Well miss you, Big I. Love Life Laughter. Thats our Mom, Nana and friend. Cremation arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM 1531 PEMBINA HWY. 284-7500
