OTTO WILHELM SCHMIDT January 21, 1925 - September 19, 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Otto leaves to cherish his loving wife Naemi; daughter Evelyn (Barry) Boyce; sons, Walter and Ben (Bonnie) grandchildren, Samuel and Sarah; sisters, Martha (Oswald) and Irmgard (Sigi). Otto was predeceased by his parents Emily and Karl, brother Ewald and nephew Bob. Otto was born in Lithuania. He and his wife and son Walter immigrated to Canada in 1951. Otto was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He started his career in Canada at John Woods Company, moved on to Flyer Industries and Motor Coach Industries as a supervisor. From there he used his entrepreneurial ability to build a family business, Schmidt Iron Works. His fondest memories were that of vacationing with his family on the "Blue Bird," playing in his garden and teasing his grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 23. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
