Date of Passing: Sep 20, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNARD (BUD) BALES It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father and grand-father on September 20, 2002, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 80 years. He was born on June 24, 1922, at Bannerman, MB. Bud will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his daughter Valerie McDougall (Iain) sons, Brian and Dave (Michelle) grandchildren, Kelly, Kathy and Neil McDougall, Jason and Jennifer Bales. Bud was predeceased by his wife Pamela and his sister Beulah Blomme. He is also survived by sisters, Sylvia Johannesson, Vera Hutka (Rudy), Dorothy Lazaruk (Morris) brothers, Laverne (Gerry) and Russell. Bud served during the Second World War in The Royal Canadian Air Force achieving the rank of Master Flight Sergeant. Following his training at Queens University in the Radar Corps he was stationed overseas at Bomber Command, London, England. It was during this time in England he met and married Pam. Upon returning home from the war, Bud was employed at North Star Oil and remained with the company when it became Shell Oil for many satisfying years until his retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed his work years and made many lifelong friends. Bud loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bud also loved to travel and enjoyed numerous trips to Hawaii with his family and friends. He was an active member of the Belgian Club where he would always find time to challenge somebody to a game of cribbage. The family would like to thank good friend and neighbour Jim Gosselin and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital. The family gratefully declines flowers and suggests that donations be made to a favourite charity. Cremation has taken place and, in keeping with Buds wishes, no service will be held.
