Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA BERTHA WENSEL (nee KOPP) Olga Bertha Wensel passed away peacefully on September 20, 2002, at Cedar Grove in the Misericordia Hospital where she had resided for the past four months. Olga, who was 89 years old, was predeceased by her husband Reuben; and by her brothers, Otto, Paul and Edward; and sisters, Elsie and Johanna. Olga is survived by her sister Lena Halgren; brother George (Irma) Kopp; sisters-in-law, Elsie Kopp and Irene Kopp; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Olga was born on December 8, 1912 in Winnipeg but grew up in the area near Moosehorn. At age 24, she moved to Winnipeg in search of work, where she tried her hand at many jobs most notably being at Hambleys Hatchery. It was in Winnipeg that she met Reuben who she married in 1937. Their marriage lasted for 58 years until Reubens passing in 1995. Olga enjoyed her homemaking role of cooking, baking and looking after her backyard garden. For pastime, she liked to play cards and go shopping downtown. Relatives visiting from out-of-town were always welcome to stay at her home and experience her gracious hospitality. Olga was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross and for many years she was active in the work of the Evangelical Lutheran Women. Olga will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St. on Thursday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Olga Wensel may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Cross Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
