GRACE CAROL WINOGRAD Grace Carol Winograd passed away peacefully at home, Friday, September 20, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Neville Winograd, in 1995. Our parents were teenage sweethearts who were married in August, 1944 and had a loving 51 years of marriage. Grace is survived by her children, Margaret and Paul Shuckett, Chuck and Libby Winograd, Bob and Andi Winograd, Eric and Francie Winograd; and her grandchildren, Nicole Shuckett and Avi Pollock, Cara Shuckett, Lev and Angus Winograd, Benjy, Matt and Jaclyn Winograd and Abby, Jill and Richard Winograd. Grace is also survived by her sister Miriam Schrager; and her sister-in-law and brother-in law Betty and Gene Greenspan. Our mother was born on July 8, 1922 in Winnipeg to Lil and Nick Maza. After attending Mulvey Elementary School and Gordon Bell High School she graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then worked in the renowned Cadham Laboratory in Toronto where ground breaking work in the Rh factor in babies was ongoing. Throughout her life she was very active in the community, including Girl Guides where she served many years including a term as a provincial commissioner for Manitoba from 1974-1977. Our mother lived her life with the presence and dignity that her name defined. She accepted whatever life had to offer, always believed she was blessed and lived life to its fullest. Despite being legally blind she was able to attend her book club, the theatre and endless movies. Our mothers inner strength truly showed through later in life as she overcame numerous physical disabilities. Her passing leaves a huge void in our life but she will always be remembered with love. We would like to thank all of her family and friends who doted on her and cared for her to the end. We would also like to thank Dr. Ray Singer and Dr. Christine Peshkin for the support and comfort they provided. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 23, 2002 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Her eleven grandchildren were her pallbearers.
