Date of Passing: Sep 21, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) GEORGE JACKSON Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on September 21, 2002, at the St. Boniface Hospital with his family at his side. Bill was predeceased by his wife Margie in 1979. His love for her remained strong and her memory vivid in his thoughts. He was also predeceased by his parents George and Alice; and his only brother Walter. Dad was born in Hastings, England, on January 11, 1919. He came to Canada with his parents as a young child. Dad grew up in the Elmwood area of Winnipeg. During the Second World War he was stationed in Washington, DC. Being away, he missed his childhood sweetheart Margie, so he found her a job and she travelled down to be together. Bill and Marge married in October 1943. After the war they returned to Winnipeg where he was employed as a salesman with the Great West Electric Co. Six children made the family complete and they lived happily in East Kildonan. Dad was an honorary life member of the Rossmere Golf and Country Club, where he curled and golfed for many years. He was very active with the junior boys curling program for over twenty years. Dad was the recipient of the Bill Lumsden Memorial Award and honorary life member of the Manitoba Curling Association. He was a member of the Shriners Drum and Bugle Corps and a member of the Army & Navy Unit 60. Our dads memory will live on in us, his children, Bill (Sandy), Bob (Joyce), Dianne (Dave), Maureen (Terry), Tom (Janice), Ken (Kendra) 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dads life will take place on Thursday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Concordia Place Personal Care Home, 1000 Molson St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Concordia Place, 4th floor; the staff at Deer Lodge Centre, 3 East; and the doctors and nursing staff on 5A south at St. Boniface Hospital. Your compassion meant so much to Dad and all of us. You finally got your wish Dad ... "Youre on the road again." KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
