JOHN EARLE (JACK) McKERLIE June 8, 1910 - September 21, 2002 With sadness the family of Jack McKerlie announces his passing on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. Jack was born in Miami, MB and lived there until his service in the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War. After the war he resided in Roland, MB, Calgary, AB, and Regina, SK, before retiring to Winnipeg in 1975. His life was blessed with two long and happy marriages. He married Florence Grace Stewart in 1936, and together they had sons, Kent and Dennis. After Florences death in 1972, Jack moved to Regina to continue his career with the federal government. He renewed an old friendship with Marion Schick (nee Rutledge) whom hed known as a youth, and they were married in 1973. They travelled extensively, enjoyed many shared interests, and a wide circle of friends. At the time of Marions death in April 2001, they were living together in Donwood Manor, where Jack remained until his passing. Jack was a man of great intelligence who loved music, reading and crossword puzzles. He was an avid golfer and baseball fan. Jack was known for his excellent sense of humour, courtesy, and gentle ways. He faced the challenges of his later years with humour, courage and dignity. Jack leaves to mourn his passing, his sons, Kent (Phyllis) and Dennis; Marions son and daughter, Charles (Margaret) Schick, and Sandra (Frank) Litwin; and their families; and his only surviving sibling Edith McKerlie of Newmarket, ON; as well as many other relatives and friends. His family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Donwood Manor for their care and loving kindness to Jack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jacks memory to Donwood Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2G 2H9. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
