MARLAND ALBERT FUREVICK It is with heartfelt love and deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Marland Albert Furevick on September 23, 2002. Marland was born in Erickson, MB, May 20, 1937, predeceased by his parents, Albert and Minnie; brother Merril; infant daughter; father-in-law Ellwood Hunter; and brother-in-law William Hunter. Marland leaves behind his wife Catherine; son Scott and Brenda of Winnipeg; son Keith and Donna of Peterborough, ON; daughter Janice and James of Nanaimo, BC; along with five grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Ashley, Myles, Isaac, Drew, and James Jr. Marland is also survived by mother-in-law Olive Hunter; brother-in-law Brian Hunter and Georganna; sister-in-law Lori Hunter; brother-in-law Kent Hunter and Yvonne; and nieces and nephews, Shannon, Tranna, Devin, Jeffrey, Dustin, Bill, Page, and Ryan. Marlands mother passed away when he was two years old. He first lived with relatives and then with dear friends, Flora and Enoch Ehlin. His father operated a shoemaker and harness shop next door so Marland was able to spend time with him. Marland always thought of Flora, Enoch and their two daughters, Eirenne Brown and Eidlyn Korberg, as family. Marlands great loves were his family, friends, fishing, and curling. He took great pride in skipping the family curling team in many bonspiels when the children were younger and then became a great coach and fan. He travelled many miles to watch his children curl and made many friends along the way. Marlands legacy will live on in the many homes and cottages he built in the Erickson and Clear Lake area. Many of his customers became great friends which made his work most satisfying. The homes he built his family over the years were the focal point for many good times and he made sure everyone knew they were welcome. Pallbearers will be Tom Dudman, Mac Estabrooks, Newman Hall, Eddy Oshust, Larry Squance, Carl Syslak, Ted Temple, and Ron Thompson. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be at the Erickson Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 26 at 2:00 p.m. The interment will follow at Bethel (Danvers) Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Bethel (Danvers) Lutheran Church and Cemetery fund, care of Stella Nylen, Erickson, MB ROJ OPO.
