MARIA DOS ANJOS CABRAL REIS Peacefully at Grace Hospital on September 24, 2002 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother entered into her eternal rest. Loving remembered and sadly missed by her husband Agostinho; children, Tony (Colette), Jose (Bev), John, Frank (Linda), Rui (Pam), Nelson (Wendy), Dora (Murray), Agostinho (Lisa) grandchildren, Anthony and Christopher, Jana (Rene), David (Alison), Doug (Laura), Christine, Nicole and Justin (and their mother Cindy), Amanda, Melissa, Jack, Warren and Alexandra, Daniel, Jamie and Jessie; great-grandchildren, Selica, Chanel, Christian, Brandyn, Karah, Madison, Sammi-Jo and Dallas. Maria is also survived by two sisters, Maria Do Carmo of the United States, and Maria Teresa of Portugal; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her mother Teresa de Jesus Cabral and father Guilherme Homem Da Silva; brothers, Antonio Da Silva and Guilherme De Silva. Maria was born in Santo Antonio, S. Miguel, Azores on May 7, 1921. She immigrated to Canada in July of 1962 with her six sons to join her husband who had arrived five years earlier. She worked unselfishly and devoted herself to her children. Her youngest two children were born after coming to Canada. Mom took great pride in her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her trips to Portugal and Brazil as well at The States. Maria had a deep faith in God and now is safe in His arms. She will be forever cherished and remembered in our hearts. May God find a special place in His garden of peace for you. Rest in peace, until we meet again. Prayers will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 8:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin N. St. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m., also at the church. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Reception will follow the interment at the church hall. Pallbearers will be her grandsons David, Douglas, Justin, Warren and Jack Reis. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired donations may be made in Marias memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Ste. 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and doctors at the Grace Hospital and Home Care staff who cared so compassionately for Maria.
