ANDREW DUL February 14, 1922 - September 26, 2002 With deep sadness, Andrew Dul, beloved husband of Sophia and family, passed away on Thursday at Seven Oaks Hospital. His wife of 51 years, Sophia (nee Wysocki) daughters, Donna, Irene, Susana; son Peter; son-in-law Frederick Buffi; grandsons, Julian, Andrew and Michael; great-grandson Randy; cousin Joseph (Martha) Jarosiewicz; and niece Bugoslawa Burdzy; brother-in-law Waclav (Victoria) and nephew Walter Wysocki deeply mourn the loss of a man cherished for his courage, wit, strength and powerful presence in the lives of his closest family. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Kasmir, Marion and Jacob; and sister Jania, he leaves behind sisters and brothers, Mihalena, Sophia, Stacia, John, Leon in Poland and brother Josef in Germany, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Andrew was born in Lukowiec-Wisniewski, Province of Stanislawow, Poland, the eldest son of Maria Dul. As a young man of 17, Andrzej witnessed the invasion of his homeland, Poland by Nazi Germany and the outbreak of the Second World War. He served with the Polish Forces under British Command April 1, 1942, to December 15, 1946. After the war he immigrated to Canada from Great Britain arriving at Halifax May 8, 1947. He was part of the first contingent of Polish veterans accepted by Canada. He was always proud and grateful to have the opportunity to live, work and raise a family in his adopted country. Being a Canadian citizen was cherished as a rare privilege and gift, and he was the sole member of his family to have the honour. Prayers will be held on Sunday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with funeral service on Monday, September 30 at 1:00 p.m., also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his son Peter, family friend Steve Gambrel, son-in-law Frederick, grandsons Julian, Andrew and Michael. Honorary pallbearers the family acknowledges are Walter Wysocki (Rome) and Richard Wysocki (Port Dover, ON). A man of few words and simple ways, he is the core of our family and lives in our hearts forever. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
