JANET McNAMEE It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our wife, mother and nanny on September 23, 2002 at St. Boniface Hospital. She fought courageously through the cancer and did not once shed a tear. She was predeceased by her mother Anne, with whom she had a very loving bond. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband Bob; son Darrin, "daughter"-in-law Karen; grandson Ryan; sister-in-law Maureen; mother-in-law Marion (Mom) and many other family and friends. Janet was born April 14, 1939 in Brokenhead, MB. She moved to Winnipeg as a young child and at age 11 she moved to West Kildonan and attended Victory School, where she met the love of her life, Bob. At age 14 they started dating, were engaged at 18 and married at 21. In her early years of marriage, she enjoyed taking part in bowling and curling. She was an exceptional bowler and won many trophies. She also excelled in curling and was on many mixed championship teams. She loved working outdoors in the yard, always making sure it looked perfect and received many compliments from passers by. As a Mom, she was a No. 1 fan in hockey and cheered on her son as well as the rest of the team. She always made sure the team jerseys were fresh and clean. She also enjoyed going out on the boat and fishing with her son. Janet relished her trips to Las Vegas with Bob and also the two driving trips they took, that covered most of the United States and Canada. These were some of her best memories. It was Janets greatest joy to see her son marry such a wonderful woman like Karen, who turned out to be like the daughter she never had. In 1994 she received her greatest gift, her grandson Ryan was born. She cherished every moment with her little angel and loved trying to "fix his little red wagon" when they would play one of her favourite games, Yahtzee. It broke our hearts and the sorrow will never leave us. She was born with a heart of gold. She would do anything for anyone in need without having to be asked. She was always there to lend a helping hand. We wish to send a special thanks to her sister-in-law Maureen for all the help and care she provided while Janet was at home. We would also like to thank the neighbours and friends for their kind conversation and the meals they brought over. As well as a special thank you to the Palliative Care staff at St. Boniface Hospital for providing needs that were necessary to keep her comfortable at home and also for their care and compassion during her final few days at the hospital. Cremation has taken place and, in keeping with Janets wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Variety Childrens Heart Centre. "I will never say good-bye Dear because Im sure well see each other again. So what Im saying Dear is, good-night and Ill love you forever" - Your loving husband Bob.
