Carmelina was born July 29, 1912, in Winnipeg, MB and at approximately eight years of age was taken back to Amato, Italy by her parents. There she was raised in the Italian traditions to be a homemaker, and was well known and esteemed for her grace and beauty. At the age of eighteen, she married Antonio Fiorentino, Maestro of the Amato symphonic Band, and, in his later years, an acclaimed and published poet. Carmelina gave birth to five children in Amato. Then in 1949, she returned to Winnipeg with her husband and children. Carmelina gave birth to two more children, one of whom died at childbirth. In Winnipeg as immigrants, Carmelina and her family overcame many hardships. She devoted herself to her husband and children, and showed herself faithful in all things towards her husband and children through all of lifes trials and tribulations. Her Christian faith maintained her throughout her entire life, and gave her strength, courage, and endurance through all hardship and illness. Carmelina had a beautiful sense of humour that showed her love of life and endeared her to all that knew her. Friends and family delighted in her ways and she left many fond memories. Carmelina was predeceased by her husband Antonio in 1983, and by her brother Anthony Sherbo. Carmelina is survived by her brother Peter Sherbo (Rose) sister Angelarosa Maruca; sister Adelina Sherbo; sister Virginia Cosentino; sister Serafina Cantafio (Joe) and sister-in-law Kay Sherbo.
