EXILDA VALCOURT (nee BACON) Exilda (nee Bacon) Valcourt died peacefully with her family at her side at 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2002 at the Tache Centre. Born in St. Jean Baptiste on March 12, 1903, Exilda married and lived there before moving to St. Boniface in 1940. Exilda was predeceased by her parents, Bernadette Antaya, Alcide Bacon; her husband Damien Valcourt; and grandson Larry Olivier; two brothers, Isidore Bacon and Paul Emile Bacon; and two sisters, Valentine Berard and Elizabeth Levesque. She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Adele Audette and Simone Audet; one sister-in-law, Lybra Bacon; seven daughters, S. Berthe s.n.j.m. of St. Boniface, Rita o.m.m.i. of St. Boniface, Andree Grise (Bertrand) of Saskatoon, SK, Emerence Verrier (Louis) of Victoria, BC, Gisele Desautels (Edmond) of Missouri, Henriette Olivier (Denis) of St. Vital, Angeline Antaya of Kaledan, BC; one son George Valcourt (Barbara) of Arizona; 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Exilda was a loving and caring person. She touched the lives of many people, nieces, nephews, refugees and new Canadians. The family extends special thanks to the entire staff, particularly nurses at 3DE at the Tache Centre for their love, compassion, support and kindness shown to our mother for the past years or months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tache Centre, 185 Despins St., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2B3. Funeral mass will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3 at the St. Boniface Cathedral with Father Paul Campeau presiding. Interment to follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
