EDWARD (EDDIE) GUSTAV WURSTER Peacefully on Sept-ember 27, 2002 at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Edward (Eddie) Gustav Wurster aged 85 years, of Ashern, MB. Eddie was born March 30, 1917 on the family farm on the Carnridge District of Manitoba, and received his schooling there. At the age of 18 years he left the farm to work in Winnipeg until 1939. On September 21, 1940 Eddie joined the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders and was sent to Europe where he served on the front lines until 1945. He then returned to the farm, and in 1947 he married Dorothy Klapprat. They farmed for the next 30 years before retiring and moving to Ashern. Eddie was instrumental in helping to build the Ashern Legion Hall, of which he was very proud. He loved to work with wood, repairing and refinishing old furniture. In his younger years he enjoyed deer hunting. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Dorothy; daughters, Sheila (Taras), Sharon (Larry) son Don (Celine) brother Dick of Maryland, USA; sisters, Elsie Crane of Winnipeg, and Martha Olson of Ashern; daughter-in-law Violet; granddaughter Corrina Doll; grandsons, Terry, Darren, Jeffrey, Scott and Daniel; great-grandchildren Derrick, Gordon, Brett, Tanya and Taryn; also many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Mary; son Larry in 1992; brothers, Henry, Bill, Walter, Harry, Ernie and Ted; sisters, Edith and Helen. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church, Moosehorn, MB, with Rev. Donna J. Smalley officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his five grandchildren, Terry Maydaniuk, Darren Maydaniuk, Jeffrey Stinson, Scott Stinson, Daniel Wurster, and his nephew Dwayne Klapprat. Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2 at Arnason Funeral Home, Ashern. Viewing also at the church prior to the service. Special thanks to Dr. Berrow, nurses and staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital for the care and kindness given to Ed and the family. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Moosehorn, MB, or to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, care of Runa Mangl, Box 590, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0, "for use in the Palliative Care Unit".
