DUKE RONALD HARVEY Peacefully on September 28, 2002, at the Riverview Health Centre, Duke Ronald Harvey passed away at the age of 71, with his family at his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons Ronald, David, and Leonard (Tammy) his mother Olive; three grandchildren, Christina, Raymond, their mother Lorraine Gendreau, Ashley and her mother Karen; his sisters, Eleanor Bower (Frank), Mavis Aimoe and Donalda Mardynalka (Walter). His sister-in-law Donna Summerfield (Victor) and Barb Edwards (Frank). His special aunt Dorothy Vezina, numerous nieces and nephews. Duke was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Roberta (Gail) in 1998; his sisters, Lila Johnson (Morris) and Thelma Currie (Dennis) and his father Benjamin. Duke was born and raised in Roland, MB. At the age of 18 years, he joined the Armed Forces and was proud to serve his country in the Korean war. Following an honourable discharge, Duke became an accomplished painter with Boyd Auto Body where he remained for 41 years, retiring in 1995. Duke was an honest, gentle, hardworking man with strong self-determination. It was these qualities which enabled him to overcome the many adversities during his life. Duke treasured the values of life and never lost his smile. He especially enjoyed flea markets and took an keen interest in the Winnipeg Thistle club (CB Radio). In accordance to Dukes wishes cremation has taken place. The family welcomes an informal gathering of friends on October 6 at 3:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Reception Room, 1501 Waverley St. The family extends their thanks to the Palliative Care staff at the Riverview Centre and to lifetime friend Virginia Kelly for the compassionate care of Duke during his illness.
