Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADA STERRITT September 15, 1921 - September 26, 2002 Tragically, on Thursday, September 26, 2002, Ada Gertrude Sterritt (nee Moore), beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was taken from us. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her. Ada was predeceased by her husband Arthur in November 2001. She is survived by her two sisters, Edna Phillips of Peterborough, ON and Lois Kirkland of Kitchener, ON. Also left to mourn, her children, Wayne (Rose) Sterritt, Marnie (Chad) Schaefer and Michael Sterritt; and missed by grandchildren, Christopher Lee, Andrew, Jamie, Christopher Johnathon, Zoe; great-granddaughter Tyla; and little friend Jake. Mom was a photojournalist with the Thompson Citizen until her retirement in 1986. She was very active in various womens groups including the Thompson Lioness, Thompson Hospital Auxiliary, Rotary Place and the A.N.A.F. Thompson. She also furthered her personal development as a freelance photographer and was quite an accomplished artist, participating often in the Northern Juried Art Show and as a member of Studio 55. She especially enjoyed working with and writing for longtime friend, MLA Steve Ashton. Since moving to Stonewall in 2001, she enjoyed spending time with her fellow members of the Knox Presbyterian Church, and the 55 Plus Club. She had made many, many friends and was well known by the staff and store owners along Main Street. Visiting and shopping were among her favourite pastimes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Stonewall, with Rev. Ted Hicks. Honorary pallbearers include Winnie Stuart, Joan Brown, Carol Pelton, Pat Freiberg, Marg Watt, Edna Phillips, Lois Kirkland and Tanna Sterritt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Adas memory to a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
