Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELDER FRANK WESLEY "CHEE CHEES" December 1, 1935 - September 27, 2002 Peacefully on September 27, 2002, Frank Wesley passed on in his place of residence at the age of 66 years. Frank was born in Lac Seul, ON, son to Lula Lyons and the late Joseph Wesley of Ontario. He was a devoted husband to wife Salome for 46 years, and a loving father to nine children, 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Frank leaves to grieve in his passing his sons, Ronald (Debra), Joe (Brenda), Frankie (Joyce) and John (Andrea) his daughters, Barbara, Lula (Jeff), Mary, Helen and Bernice (Mike). Frank also leaves behind his only surviving brother Roy Wesley of North Bay, ON and dear nephew Roger Johnson. He also leaves many relatives. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest, Angus and Ronald; and sister Annie Wesley. Frank put up a courageous battle over the years with diabetes, he lost a leg due to the illness, but that never stopped him from doing what he loved the best. Frank continued to work as a spokesman for diabetes and wanted to educate the Aboriginal community about diabetes. Franks love of meeting people, speaking and travelling far to help others will never be forgotten by family and friends. Frank was active and belonged to many organizations, Aboriginal Council of Winnipeg, Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Task Force, Aboriginal Self-Government, Aboriginal Financial Management, AFDA, Anishnaabe Mino-Ayaawin Manitoba, Assembly of First Nations, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, Bold Eagle, Dakota Tribal Council, FAI, Gathering Strength, Governance Initiative, Headstart, Health Action Centre - Diabetes Prevention in Children Project, HRDC, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Indigenous Games 2002, Keewatin Tribal Council, Little Red Feather Day Care, Manitoba Health Diabetes Project, Manitoba Aboriginal Veterans Association, Manitoba Industry, Trades and Minerals, Manitoba Hydro Culture Camp, Manitoba Association of Native Firefighters, Manitoba Housing, Manitoba Justice, Manitoba Diabetes Strategy, Mining Association, MKO, NBO-Stony and Rockwood Institutions, National Aboriginal Diabetes Association, Northwest Law Enforcement Academy, Security Training Academy of Manitoba, Selkirk Mental Hospital, Southeast Council, Treaty Lands Entitlement Council, Turtle Island Community Club, United Nations World Conference Against Racism - First Nations Peoples Initiative, Urban Circle, Vision Quest, Winnipeg Local Aboriginal Management Board, and many other organizations across Canada. Prayers and wake service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at door 5, Freight House, 200 Isabel St., Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. also at door 5, Freight House with the familys pastor, Fr. Henry of Holy Trinity Anglican Church officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. The eulogy will be read by Phil Fontaine, a close and dear friend. Active pallbearers will be Joe, John, Calvin, Roy, Randi and Mike. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Brown, Jim Bear, Bob Holiday, Vic Epp, Ron Richard, Ron Wesley, Jason Hacluck, Jack Fiddler, Bob Wesley and Morris Carpenter. Many thanks to Randi Gage for all her heartfelt efforts in our time of need. The family would also like to thank the HSC staff and the fire department for all their efforts. Forever in my heart, mind and spirit..I miss u so much grandfather.. It's been 10 years and still I see u in front of me the day u passed... It is so hard to move forward with this vision I see of you passed away in front of me.. Wish I can talk to someone about this... Miss u so much.
