Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN (STEVE) CHRISTOPHER BATTEN January 3, 1969 - September 28, 2002 It is with profound sadness that the family of Stephen announces his accidental death on September 28, 2002 at the young age of 33 years. Steve will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Vera and his two children, Aleczander and Melina; his devoted parents, Lloyd and Judy Batten; his brother David and his sister Dana (Stephane) Batten; mother and father-in-law, Blaga and Blagoj Angelkovski; brother-in-law Vlado (Dajana) nephews, Evan and Kristopher; niece Sarah; uncle Tom (Mari) McDaniel and cousin Colleen; special aunt and uncle, Steve and Lorraine Kraichy; other relatives and many, many close friends and co-workers. Steve was a special person who was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was a kind and gentle soul who always gave to others with a smile and a hug, but Angels always do. Steve was employed by PCL as a journeyman carpenter and enjoyed many close friendships with his colleagues and co-workers. He was well respected and very respectful of others and took pride in his workmanship. The family would like to thank auntie Lorraine and uncle Steve, close friends Bryan and Cathy and Paul and Tori and all our family and friends for all the love, care and support during this very difficult time. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Chapel with Very Rev. J. A. Melnyk officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. In Steves memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens Hospital Foundation or any other childrens charity. A heart of gold stopped beating, Hard working hands went to rest, God took you home to prove to us, He only takes the best.
