CARLA ANN ZEBRYNSKI It is with intense sadness that we announce the passing of our precious daughter, Carla, on Sunday, September 29, 2002, at the age of 25 years. At home, with her mom at her side, she left us after a six year tenacious and courageous fight with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Throughout these years, Carla faced her illness with incredible strength and a positive attitude. Carla leaves her loving Sean and their 3 year old son, Steven, both of whom she loved deeply. Also left to cherish her memory and love her forever are her parents, Brenda and Norman Zebrynski; brother Glenn; sister-in-law Terri; and only nephew Brendan. Others left to mourn her passing are her grandparents, Norman and Ann Wiebe and Caroline Zebrynski; many aunts, uncles and cousins; best friends, Susan Fraser and Jennifer Neilsen; Seans mother and sister, Rosaline and Sabrina Webster. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather Walter Zebrynski and her pet beagle, Toby. Carla went to school in Fort Garry and graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate in 1995. She did begin post secondary study a year later but had to stop due to the diagnosis of cancer. She managed to work for awhile at the former Norlander Hotel until she could no longer work. It had been her dream to become an accountant. During her years of homemaking, Carla enjoyed watching her little Steven grow and develop into an active, chatty young fellow. Having had Auntie Nancy as a mentor through her younger years, Carla became an expert and creative chef and baker. She took pride in preparing many delicious meals and desserts for all of us. We extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Ruth Simkin, Jill Taylor-Brown and Kim Campbell for their support and to the wonderful staff at CancerCare Manitoba, especially Joanne, Drs. M. Rubinger, D. Bow, G. Schroeder, I. Maxwell and Vijay; HSC D6 Ward; the Palliative Care staff and finally, the pharmacy staff at Consumers Mart (Ringers) on Pembina Highway. Special thanks to the Whyte Ridge Elementary School staff and the many families in the community for all their support, prayers and cheer over the past six years to both Carla and her family. To all others across the country who prayed for Carla, we thank you! Prayers will be said on Friday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m. at the Leatherdale Gardiner Chapel at 1501 Waverley St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St., with Fr. Monty presiding. The interment will take place in the Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations in Carlas memory may be sent to CancerCare Manitoba "Patient Services", P.O. Box 2248, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9, or to a trust fund for Stevens education. Make cheques payable to Assante, in trust for Steven Webster. Mail care of Glenn Zebrynski, 159 Pilgrim Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2M 0L5. Thank you. The following poem was selected by Carla to express what she felt towards her impending passing: IM FREE Dont grieve for me, for now Im free Im following the path, God laid for me I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left you all. I could not stay another day To laugh and love, to work, or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I had to leave at the dawn of Sunday. If my parting has left a void Fill it with some remembered joy; A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, A walk in the park, or a glance at the stars. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My lifes been full, I savoured much A son, good friends, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
