SUSAN LANA JUEL McVICAR (nee NELSON) October 17, 1947- September 30, 2002 "one special lady" Peacefully, after five courageous years, Susans battle with cancer has ended at the age of 54. Susan passed away at 5:05 a.m. on September 30, 2002, with her eldest daughter at her side, at Grace Hospital. Susan was survived by her husband of 36 years George; her two daughters, Georgina (Terry), and Lana; her two sisters, Debbie (Mike) and Annette (Darren) and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Sonja; her brother Jan; and her niece Tanis. Aside from a few years in Denmark as a child, Susan lived most of her life in Winnipeg. She worked at the Safeway on Ellice and Wall for the past 35 years and moonlighted at Salisbury House off and on throughout these years, most recently at the Headingly restaurant. Susan loved her dog Tia, the beach, the cottage, bingo, needlepoint, going to Bomber and Jets games, playing cards with friends, and anything Elvis. She also volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Guide leader, and for the Scandinavian Pavilion with Folklorama. Most of all, Susan loved people, and this fact, combined with her kind and giving heart, earned her countless friends throughout her too short a life. Susan will be greatly missed by her family, her friends and coworkers at Safeway and Sals, and the many other people in her life that loved her very much. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace hospital for their kindness during the past five years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. The service will be on Thursday, October 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Service will terminate at the chapels with cremation to follow. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
