Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE SOKOLOSKI With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Steve Sokoloski on September 30, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Maisie (1986) parents, Theodore (Fred 1956), Kathryrina (1968) brothers, Nick (1927), Mike (1970), Jessie (1959). Survived to mourn his loss, brothers, Peter, Alec (Annie), Paul (Ruth) sister-in-law Nellie; there are many nieces and nephews; cherished neighbours and dear friends, (Mayor) Bert Kindzierski and Paul Trakalo. Steve was born in Meleb, MB in 1910. He attended Teulon Collegiate and won the Governor General Medal for his scholastic and sports activities in the late 1920s. After high school Steve graduated from National Schools in Los Angeles, CA with a diesel mechanic certificate. He also took electronics and electrical courses. In the early years he worked at Dawson City in a gold mine for a number of years. He travelled extensively during the early years of his life. Steve played a major role in the construction and operation of the Arborg Curling Rink, which he was president of for a number of years. He excelled in sports especially baseball and curling. Steve served in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War as a Petty Officer. He was a member of the Canadian Legion for over 60 years. Later on he owned his own electronics business (Steves Radio and TV) and later branched out to include a mens and ladies shoe store. He was in business for over 50 years. Steve was a very generous person supporting the community and local charities. He performed as Master of Ceremonies at many events. He enjoyed spending his free time in his garden. A funeral service will be held at the Arborg Community Hall on Thursday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of GD2 at the Health Sciences Centre for their compassion and care. God took you hand and we had to part, He eased your pain but broke our hearts. If you could have spoken before you died, These are the words you would have replied: This life for me has truly passed, I have loved you all, till the very last.
