WINNIFRED ELIZABETH (WYNNE) MCKINNON-CROCKFORD (nee CLAYTON)
Born: Mar 19, 1905
Date of Passing: Sep 30, 2002
Offer Condolences or MemoryWINNIFRED ELIZABETH (WYNNE) McKINNON-CROCKFORD (nee CLAYTON) Winnifred Elizabeth (Wynne) McKinnon - Crockford, nee Clayton, born in Liskeard, Cornwall, England, March 19, 1905 died September 30, 2002. Predeceased by her husband Duncan, a well known Alberta artist, will be sadly missed by her daughter Pamela; her nephew Donald and a host of close friends, Doris, Hilda, Daphne, Garfield, Paul, Greg and Grazina to name a few. Known for her optimism, courage and ability to defy convention, she was an inspiration for many. During the Second World War, she became the first woman local government officer. Her name was put forward for the O.B.E. when she organized response teams for bombed homes; a method then used throughout England. She and Duncan immigrated to Duncan, AZ in 1953 then to Canada in 1954, living in Canmore, Calgary, then Vancouver. No funeral by request, but wherever you are, I suggest a special cup of tea remembering the many times she entertained over the teapot. Many thanks for the wonderful care she received from Dr. John Adair and the special staff at Evergreen House. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to any animal charity, all of which she supported. Hollyburn Funeral Home; ph: 1-604-922-1221
