Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGNES PANKOW Peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2002, our Mom and Grandma passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, Rehab Hospital after a short illness. Agnes was predeceased by husbands, Andrew Taraschuk in 1976 and James Pankow in 1990. Also parents, Peter and Margaret Penner and infant sister Sarah. Left to mourn is her son Rick Taraschuk and wife Pat Galbraith and beloved grandchildren, Dustin, Kristine and Rebecca. Also sister-in-law Mary Chimiuk (Taraschuk) sister Mary Rempel; brother Neil (Dorothy) Penner; and sisters, Margaret (Peter) Wiebe, Katherine (Bob) Hoover, Helen Hoeppner, Anne (Herb) Olsen, Sadie (Dave) Dick, Martha (Bill) Dick. As well as numerous nieces and nephews in the Taraschuk and Penner families and many friends. Agnes was born September 16, 1922, in Plum Coulee, MB. A child of the depression Mom went to work at the age of 14 and continued working until June of this year. A mark of her dedication is the over 35 years tenure she had with Mrs. Andison and Mrs. Steinkopf. She moved to Winnipeg in the early 1940s to work. She met Andy through a friend and they married in 1950. Mom was a member of Calvary Temple for over 40 years, and sang in the choir for 25 years. She particularly enjoyed the annual Messiah performances. In 1985 she married Jim Pankow, an old friend of Andys. She counted her grandchildren as her special blessings. Plane trips to celebrate birthdays and weddings were yearly holidays. In August 2001 she flew to Yellowknife to join Rick, Pat and children in exploring the area where Andy worked in mines before their marriage. There she hiked through the wilderness to see Campbell Falls. Mom found joy and fulfillment in cooking, walking, driving, journalling the weather and her daily life and the glory of each sunrise and sunset. Mom was fortunate to live a full and independent life before her hospitalization on August 11. A very special thank you to Jan and Raymond Weibe for their help and support during the past eight weeks. Thanks to Dr. Roussin, Dr. Peschken and the nursing staff of RR6. Thank you to Grace Hospital for their care and use of the family room to celebrate Grandmas 80th birthday. Her sister Margarets visit from B.C. for her birthday was a great comfort to Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Radio and Television Ministry at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St. Winnipeg MB R3B 3A8 or the Arthritis Society for Lupus Research, 105 - 386 Broadway Ave. Winnipeg MB R3C 3R6.
