CARL EDWARD CARLSON July 27, 1926 - October 5, 2002 Peacefully, with family by his side, Ed left us to be with his family and friends who had gone on before him. After a lengthy battle with a number of ailments, he is finally able to rest. Ed leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 48 years Lorraine; children, Larry (friend Lynne - Pamela and Courtney), Dwaine (Bernadette - Erica and Robin), Gail (friend Leon - Travis, Sara and their father Daryll), Bruce (Janelle - Graeme and Kiana) great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Ariana; siblings, Pearl (Bill), Doris (Johnny), Fred ( Loreen), June (Frank) numerous nieces and nephews and their families, and countless friends. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Margit; and his brother Chester. Family was all important to Ed, especially the little children. He and Lorraine had celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on October 2, 2002. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and family get-togethers. Ed worked as a carpenter/contractor for many years before settling down in Marathon, ON, in 1969 where he worked for public works until 1983, when a yearning to return to the prairies brought him back to Manitoba. He worked as a building inspector for the LGD of Alexander until his retirement in 1991. Ed worked in bush camps and had been in the military at the end of the Second World War, in his younger years. Dad we are going to miss your kind and gentle spirit, your unconditional love for us all, and your sense of humour. You will be laid to rest but never forgotten. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 8 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, MB.
