EUGENIA TSCHERNOW Peacefully, on Friday, October 4, 2002 at Holy Family Nursing Home, with family by her side, Eugenia Tschernow passed away at the age of 93 years. Eugenia was predeceased by her husband Alexander (1980), sons, Vladimir (1999) and Alexander (2000). She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters-in-law: Olga (Vladimir), grandson Greg (Joan) and their children, Laura and Kenneth, grandson Andrew; Cathie (Alex), grandson Christian (Crystal) and their son Nikolas (who brought great joy to Eugenias life in the past few months), and granddaughter Carolyn Tschernow. She is also survived by her sister Irene Zylin and family. Eugenia was born in St. Petersberg, Russia in 1909. She and Alexander came to Canada in 1953 with their family, where they made their home in the north end of Winnipeg. She became a Canadian Citizen on June 14, 1961. She had a great appreciation for classical music, reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Some of her recipes have been passed on as well as the appreciation for fine music and literature. She was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church. Funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 9 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, 643 Manitoba Ave., with The Very Rev. Fr. Anatoly Melnyk Celebrant. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Special thanks are extended to the staff of the Holy Family Nursing Home, for their loving care and support given to Eugenia and her family over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
