JACOB BERGEN Peacefully on October 17, 2002, Jake Bergen (89 years), of Winnipeg, formerly of Warren, passed away at the Grace Hospital with his family by his side. His wife Katie predeceased him in 1981. He is survived by his children, Rudy (Janet) Bergen, Katie (Emil) Hoas, Margaret (Bob) Thiessen, Rita (John) Voth, Edna (Brian) Dyck; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sister Helen Krahn of Steinbach, MB; and his brother Isaac Bergen of Abbotsford, BC. Jake was born in the village of Zentral, Russia, on October 9, 1913, and immigrated to Canada in 1926. He farmed in Foxwarren, Hayfield and moved to Warren in 1953 until his retirement to Winnipeg in 1980. Viewing to be held on Sunday, October 20 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a short devotional service at 7:30 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21 at Schoenfelder Mennonite Church, Pigeon Lake, MB, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing prior to the church service on Monday. Pallbearers will be Bryan Hoas, Aron Thiessen, John Bergen, Michael Dyck, Cory Sinclair, Ron Krahn and Normand Cenerini. Honorary pallbearers will be John and Kristina Hoas, John and Kay Thiessen, Patricia Schnell and Jack and Agatha Dyck. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
