MARY E. ARNOTT (nee POUNDER) Mary Arnott passed away peacefully on October 11, 2002 at U.B.C. Hospital, Vancouver, BC. She is survived by her sister Mrs. Kay Carlson, Richmond, BC; her son and his wife Mr. and Mrs. James Arnott, West Vancouver; two granddaughters, Kim Arnott, Vancouver and Suzanne Arnott, California; two grandsons, James Arnott, Tennessee, Lionel Liniger, California; great-granddaughter Kathy Arnott, North Vancouver. Mary was born and raised in Souris, MB. She completed her public schooling in Souris and Brandon, MB. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1932 from Winnipeg General Hospital. After working a few years in the hospital, she was a private nurse for a Winnipeg family till the mid-1950s, when she became the Chief Nurse at the Conquist Nursing Home in Winnipeg. She held this position until her retirement in 1974. Mary and her husband Albert (Bert) Arnott then relocated to Victoria. During the last 12 years Mary resided at The Parkwood Retirement in Victoria and finally at Crofton Manor in Vancouver. Even after her retirement Mary was always available to help a friend or family member that was in need. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and her friends. Our loss is Heavens gain. A memorial service was held at First Memorial Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd., North Vancouver, on Thursday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
