NELLIE CHERKAS Peacefully, on October 9, 2002, Nellie Cherkas passed away at the Holy Family Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was 95 years old and was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Steve (August 6, 1999). She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by son Wally (Carol), daughter Teena (Ron) Reilkoff, daughter Nina (Jack) Chernoff, grandchildren, Treena, Grant, Jennifer, Tricia, Ronnie Jr., Egan and Kevin; and great-grandchildren, Cole, Telyn, Dryden, Riley, and Elizabeth Claire. Nellie was born in Poland on June 13, 1907. She immigrated to Canada in 1931 and then worked in the garment factory, where she met her husband Steve. She was a private person and devoted her life to take care of the family. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Holy Family Nursing Home staff for the excellent and compassionate care provided since March 1993. Mom had a long life but suffered throughout with acute medical problems. "Now, may your rest in peace, you truly deserve it." A private family service was held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 11 followed with interment at Brookside Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
