EVA AUDREY PECKOVER Peacefully, on October 15, 2002, Audrey Peckover passed away at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. Widow of William George Peckover, she was 88. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her daughter Carole Anderson and son-in-law Jim Anderson of Brighton, ON, grandchildren, David Anderson (Sandra Childerhose) of Castlegar, BC, Derek Anderson of Calgary, AB, and Lesley Paterson (William) of Winnipeg; and four great-grandchildren; by her son Glenn Peckover and daughter-in-law Carolyn Vogt of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Jennifer Peckover of Vancouver, BC and Andrew Peckover (Sia Zabaras) of Victoria, BC; by many other members of the Peckover family; and by a wide network of friends. Born at Sanford, MB, the only daughter of pioneer parents, Bower Heney and Eva Jane Miskelly, Audrey attended Sanford school and the Winnipeg Normal School. She taught school at Franklin, MB and at Kilmory, south-west of Carman, MB. Audrey and Bill were married at Sanford in 1939, and lived at Sperling, MB until 1966 when they moved to Winnipeg. She worked for several years with the T. Eaton Company and later at Central Park Lodge, retiring in 1978. At Sperling, Audrey was active in community affairs, was a member of Sperling United Church, and later was a member of Harrow United Church in Winnipeg. Audrey was a skilled baseball player in her youth, but following an ankle injury in 1941 she retired to being a supporter of Bill in his curling career. In later years she was an avid Blue Jays fan. She was a member of Carman Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served several terms as Worthy Matron, and later became a member of Friendship Chapter. She was honoured to receive her 50-year jewel in 1995. She and Bill were very active in the OES, travelling widely during and following his term as Worthy Grand Patron. Audrey was a caring wife and mother, an excellent homemaker, and a great friend to many. A thoughtful and generous person, she was always eager to do a good turn for friends and family - which usually involved her delicious baking! She was predeceased by husband Bill in 1993, and continued to live independently until 2001, when she suffered a fall, and spent her final year at Tuxedo Villa. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff at Victoria General Hospital and at Tuxedo Villa for their excellent care. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave., Winnipeg. A private family interment will take place in Sperling Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial donations to the charity of their choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
