JULIUS MICHAEL (MICKEY) RYCHLISKI With sadness, the family of Julius Michael (Mickey) Rychliski announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dad passed away on October 17, 2002 at his home, encircled by a family bond of love. Dad was born on July 8, 1935 in Winnipeg, MB to Julius Michael and Lottie Rychliski. He was predeceased by his father and mother and his brother Bernie. Dads memory will be cherished by his wife and lifetime companion of 49 years, Joan. He leaves behind children, Mickey, Ronald (Elanna), Cheryl Lynn (Barry), Randy (Lorena), and Michelle Monnin (Dan). The legacy of Gege will be continued through his grandchildren Amber, Bryan, Michael, Jessica, Rebecca, Ryan and Derek. He also leaves to mourn his brother Gerry (Valerie) and many loving nieces and nephews. Dad fought a heroic battle, maintaining his pride and dignity until the end. His bravery and courage was witnessed daily as he battled a life threatening disease, wanting to shield his family and friends from his pain. The family takes comfort in knowing that he will be greeted by his buddies in golf heaven at the 19th hole. Dads artistic talents started at a very early age, winning many artistic awards from his Alma Mater, St. Johns High School. It was a talent that carried him throughout his life from woodworking to masterpieces of stained glass artwork that are now displayed throughout North America. His zest for the thrill of adventure left him with many stories that he shared with his friends and some of his family. Dad obtained his pilots license in the very early 1960s and purchased his own aircraft. Many have shared and can recount the experiences they have shared with our Dad. An integral part of Dads life revolved around a family operated business, J & F Auto Body. Passed on from his Father and Uncle (Julius and Frank), Dad kept up a time-honored tradition of providing quality over quantity in "the shop". It was a central watering hole for family and friends. Dad created an environment for all to come to work, celebrate, share and enjoy. It was a place that was a part of his soul that will never be forgotten. Dad was an incredibly hard worker, and a scholar as well as a gentleman and a perfectionist in everything he did. He actively participated in the Elmwood Kiwanis Club, The Polish Professional Business Mens Club, East St. Paul Lions Club, and was a longtime member of the Elmhurst Golf and Country Club. Golf was a passion that Dad held true to his heart, sharing the love of his game with friends and family. There were so many people that helped Dad through his difficult journey that we would like to thank: Dr. T. Morgan, Dr. Pat Harris, the nurses at the Concordia Hospital Oncology Clinic, especially Carol, Elaine, and Marguerite, Dr. S. Wong, Dr. Garcia, Anne (the Palliative Care nurse - our Angel), and our faithful friend Dr. Sam Bellan. Services will take place on Monday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marys Polish National Catholic Church, 361 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Stn Main, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
