Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY KATIE GRYCKO (nee CHEPEL) December 8, 1924 - October 17, 2002 After a struggle with diabetes Mom (Baba) passed away at the age of 77. Born in Melville, SK, she moved to Winnipeg in 1944 and married Peter Grycko on July 21, 1951. She was predeceased by the love of her life on August 28, 1978. We cant bring back the days when we were all together, but the special memories live with us every day. Loved ones dont go away, they walk beside us day by day. Mom was predeceased by her mother Annie; father Harry; brothers, Jim, Willie and Joe. Moms favorite pastime was getting together with family and friends. She was always willing to help organize celebrations and we fondly remember the many school, church and family functions she planned. Her passion was the traditional Christmas Eve family dinner that she lovingly prepared for us. Mom touched many people and made many friends over the years and she was always ready with a cheerful remark, a friendly smile, and a laugh, which best expressed her love for life. Mom never missed an opportunity to tell stories about her family, as she was especially proud of her five children and nine grandchildren, Patricia Bodman and Bernd Von Thuelen, Linda and Glenn Guenther (Rick, Danny, Kaylee), Jane and Gord Masters (Shane, Kristen), Ann and Brian Huff (Landen, Ashton), Robert and Virginia Grycko (Ethan, Carter). Her sisters, Minnie (Peter) Koropatwa and Alice Somers, and numerous nieces and nephews hold a special place in her heart. Many thanks to Moms Home Care Assistant, Lana, Nurse Barb and all staff who cared for her. Mom loved her buddies from Bingo and all dear friends she made at Oakland Gardens. Pallbearers are grandsons, Rick and Danny and her sons-in-law, Bernd, Glenn, Gord and Brian. Prayers will be held on Monday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22 at 1:30 p.m. also at the Chapel. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation. Dear Mother, God Bless you. Your love will be forever with us.
