NORMA PHYLLIS McQUEEN Peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2002 after a lengthy illness, Norma, aged 84, passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre. Norma was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; her parents, Fred and Emily Smith; and her sisters, Kitt, Ivy, Dorothy, Gwen and Eileen. Norma will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gordie (Diane), Marilyn Bowes, Emily, Lewis (Judi), Gwen (Kevin) Williams and Mavis (Malcolm) Taylor; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Troy) Avery, Meredith (Stuart) Jones, Jillian (David) Schweitzer, Megan (Jeff) Stralak, Matthew (Natalie) Broughton, James, Scott and Kimberly Taylor; eleven great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Micayla, Danielle and Jordyn Avery, Bailey and Ashley Jones, Trevor Schweitzer, Adam and David Stralak and Nicholas and Thalia Broughton; sister-in-law Margaret McCulloch and many other relatives and friends. Mom had a terrific sense of humour and she was always the life of the party. Norma was an integral part of the daily routine of T3 at Deer Lodge Centre and richly added to the lives of the T3 staff. She was a devoted mother and her childrens well-being were in her thoughts, right up until the time of her passing. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends. Memorial service for Norma will be held on Thursday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m., at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of T3 and Reverend Aubrey Heminger of the Deer Lodge Centre for the compassionate care shown to our mother. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire a donation to the Alzheimers Society of Winnipeg, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3C 4G2 could be made in Normas memory.
