Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN CHRISTOPHER (JACK) COPELAND Peacefully on October 20, 2002 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Jack Copeland, aged 88 years, of Selkirk. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth (Bess) in 2001. He is survived by two sons, John (Priscilla) of Ottawa, Robert (Nancy) of Lac du Bonnet; three daughters, Judith (Bob) Boresky of Denver, Colorado, Susan (Alf) Goodall of Winnipeg, Nancy (Brian) Schreyer of Mesa, Arizona. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Sandra (John) Wise and daughter Rachel, Linda (Iain) Lang, Don (Rhonda) Boresky and son Brandon, Tania (Kevin) Kaiser and daughters, Meghan and Taylor, Brenda (Stan) Leese and daughters, Crystal and Kassandra, Victoria Goodall and son Alec, Roby (Linda) Copeland, Tylor Copeland, Ryan Schreyer, Jodi Schreyer. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Brown of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Christopher Copeland; brother Hilary; sister Marjory Bryant and infant granddaughter Charlene. Jack was born and educated in Winnipeg graduating from the University of Manitoba in Pharmacy in 1938. Jack and Bess were married in Winnipeg in 1940. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 as a Sick Berth Attendant and upon his release from the Navy moved to Old England where he resided until 1999 when he and Bess moved to Selkirk. Jack was employed as a Pharmacist at Gilhulys Drug store for 33 years, from 1946 until his retirement in 1979. Jack was an active member of St. Clements Anglican Church holding many positions over the years, including Peoples warden from 1960 to 1964. He was a Trustee for Mapleton School from 1948 to 1960 and was chairman for the last ten years. Jack was very active in the Kinsmen Club of Selkirk, joining in 1947. He held many positions including Club President and District Secretary. He was made the clubs first life member in 1963. A memorial service in celebration of Jacks life will be held on Friday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Clements Anglican Church, Selkirk with Rev. Canon Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Interment to follow in the churchyard cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Ryckman and the staff on the medical ward for their care and consideration given to Jack. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Clements Building Fund would be appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
