SIGRUN CRUISE It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and untimely death of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Sigrun Cruise who passed away at Eriksdale Hospital on Sunday, October 20, 2002. Her memory will be cherished by all that knew her. She is survived by her children, Sharon (Bill), Jack (Yvonne), Viona (Mike), Diane, Lorne (Karen) and 14 grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn (Nicole), Keith (Trina), Dennis (Cindy), Erin, Michael (Jeanie), Kelly, Kyle, Ian, Lindsay, Jordan, Braden, and twins, Graham and William; sisters, Gudny Eirikson, Lara Arnason; brother Valdi Bjornsson; sisters-in-law, Margaret Bjornsson and Margaret Cruise; and special friends, Runa and Steini. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill; son Bob; grandson Dwaine and brothers, Eric, Bjorn and Magnus. Sigrun was born September 9, 1922 at her parents home in Mary Hill School District. On October 20, 1946 she married William Cruise and moved to the Chatfield district where they raised registered Hereford cattle until 1999. Sigrun was a hard working wife and mother. She maintained the family farm records while raising her six children. She was always actively involved in all their childrens and grandchildrens activities and achievements. Participation in community events helped to fulfil an already busy life. Sigrun enjoyed her yard and garden and spent many hours making them look just right. Playing cards and visiting with family and friends gave Mom many hours of pleasure. Since her recent move to Lundar she had rekindled her Icelandic language skills by attending classes. Presentations at the library and afternoons at the new Horizons Club provided hours of entertainment. She had most recently impressed her grandchildren with her newly acquired internet and e-mail skills. Mom enjoyed life and all it had to offer and was happy to have had the opportunity to travel to eastern Canada to see the beautiful fall colours. Mom was deeply loved by all those close to her and will be forever missed. Special thanks to the Doctors, nurses and staff at E.M. Crowe Hospital, Eriksdale and to the ambulance attendants for their care and support. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lundar Legion. Interment will follow in the Lundar Community Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 400 - 141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0R3. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
