DAVID HASINOFF On Thursday, October 17, 2002 Dr. David Hasinoff of Vermillion, AB and Toronto, ON passed away at the age of 89 years in Torontos Sunnybrook and Womens College Health Sciences Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Agnes (Bren) Hasinoff in 1998. Dave is survived by his children, Dan (Sandy) Hasinoff of Edmonton; Brian (Shelley) Hasinoff of Winnipeg; Terry (Judy) Hasinoff of Lethbridge; Colin Hasinoff of Vermillion; Jacqueline (Peter) Gordon of Toronto; Dorothy Hasinoff of Toronto; his grandchildren, David, Michael, Jeff, Patrick, Sam, Amy, Erin, Sean, Megan and Maureen (Darlene). He deeply loved his wife, Bren. His greatest pride was his children and he adored his grandchildren. The family is grateful to those who touched Dr. Hasinoffs life and especially Dr. and Mrs. Crane, Jan Scott, Lee DeVries, staff of the Vermilion Health Centre and Valley Medical Clinic, Dr. Louis Yao, staff at SPRINT (Anne Johnston Health Station and Ewart Angus Homes) and Sunnybrook and Womens College Health Sciences Centre D-3 and CrCU including Dr. Tina Subissati (R2) and Dr. Guest. Born in Belarus in 1912, David immigrated to Winnipeg with his mother (Odel) and older brother Earl (Emily) shortly after his fathers death. At age 14, David entered the University of Manitoba, and in 1935 earned a medical degree. He interned at Brandon General Hospital and Regina Grey Nuns Hospital, where he met Bren. Following a brief locum in Mortlach, SK, in 1938 Dr. Hasinoff established a practice in Marwayne, AB. The family moved to Mannville, AB in 1942, and in 1968 to Vermillion where Dr. Hasinoff practiced until he retired in 1994. He served as Chief of Staff and President medical staff at Vermilion Health Care Complex. Dave was a member of the Vegreville and District Medical Society, and a lifetime member of the Alberta Medical Association. At the time of his retirement, Dr. Hasinoff had been Albertas longest serving coroner. Dave was always an active member of his community, serving on the board of the Vegreville Auxiliary Hospital, and as mayor of Mannville from 1964 to 1967. He was a long-time member of the Elks and Rotary International. in 1992, Dr. Hasinoff was presented the Vermilion Rotary Clubs Integrity Award and was also named Vermilions Citizen of the Year. Doc and Bren enjoyed participating in community sports and activities, were avid golfers and curlers, and travelled extensively. A private family service was held in Toronto on October 18.
