SHAWN McPHILLIPS WARRINGTON Shawn McPhillips Warrington passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday October 8, 2002. She leaves behind to mourn, her loving husband Richard; mother Fay McBride; sons, Murray and Ryan McPhillips; her brother Patrick and wife Susan; her aunt Rosalie Lacombe and family; stepsons, David, Stuart and James Warrington and their Grandmother Ella Warrington; and many friends. Shawn attended Glenlawn Collegiate and it was there that she began her running career. Eventually reaching a standard that would have taken her to the Pan-Am Games, had she not been so young. She continued to find great pleasure in running and jogging for the rest of her life. Shawn went on to train as a nurse, obtaining her RN from St. Boniface General Hospital in 1974. She worked at St. Boniface Hospital and then the Health Sciences Centre, where she remained for most of her career. Despite working full-time and caring for a family, Shawn went on to university and obtained her BN from the University of Manitoba in February 2000. She was certified by the Canadian Network for Asthma Education in November 2000 and was a member of the Canadian Society for Allergy and Immunology and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Shawn loved animals all of her life and supported and belonged to many Animal Welfare Societies and Associations. She was a strong supporter of the Winnipeg Vegetarian Association and leaves behind many friends there. One of her greatest pleasures was volunteering at the Winnipeg Humane Society and through this association adopted mistreated or abandoned animals that through her love became whole again. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, kind hearted, generous and loving. She was a wonderful friend who would do anything in her power to help family, friends and the living creatures around her. The world is a much emptier place without her for she was a truly unique wife, daughter, mother sister and friend. May she rest in peace. Slan leat, Shawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. Cremation and funeral have taken place.
