FLORENCE JOSEPHINE LIGGETT Florence Josephine Liggett was born September 9, 1912 to Robert J. and Janet (Boyes) Emmerson at Alameda, SK, the second of three children. She passed away peacefully at the Salem Personal Care Home, Winkler, on October 21, 2002. Florence was raised on the farm, later moving into town. After grade 11, she attended Normal School in Regina and became a teacher in several rural schools in southeast Saskatchewan. She was married to Harold Liggett from the nearby Frobisher area on December 16, 1938. They moved to Winnipeg in the early 1940s due to poor farming conditions as well as Harolds severe asthma. They both worked at various maintenance and housekeeping jobs in the city as well as at Manahans Bear Lake Camp near Rennie, MB. Later, Harold worked many years as a service station mechanic. Their only daughter Linda was born in 1944. In 1952, Harold and Florence were offered the position of custodians at Bethesda Church, at which they both worked with love and dedication for over 20 years. During those years, Harold also worked full-time in the shipping department of Brathwaites Drugs. Florence suffered a bout with cancer in the 60s but after surgery and treatment, suffered no further effects. She lovingly nursed Harold through illnesses and hospitalization until his death in 1988. She also suffered the loss of her only brother just days after losing her husband. Florence was a hard worker all of her life, always with busy hands knitting, sewing, cleaning etc., always dedicated to keeping the church looking its best through her efforts. She had a friendly and outgoing personality, always interested in other people. Due to health concerns, Florence moved to Winkler in 1995 to be near her daughter and her family. She suffered a fall in 1998 and moved to Salem Personal Care Home, where she passed away on October 21. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, one sister, one brother and her son-in-law. She is survived by one daughter Linda Enns, one granddaughter Lisa and husband Martin Hafenbrak, one grandson David Enns and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family burial will be held Saturday, October 26, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, Broadway at Furby. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or to the Canadian Sunday School Mission at a later date. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
