ARTHUR MCPHERSON September 22, 1927 - October 22, 2002 Peacefully with his family at his side, Art passed away at 6:15 p.m. at the Carman Memorial Hospital Art was predeceased by his parents, one brother, two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Lorraine of 50 years (celebrated October 21, 2002) three sons, Wayne (Cheryl), Warren and Mark; one daughter Karen (Wayne) six grandchildren, Roberta, Ellen, Andrew, Deborah, David and Ryan; four foster grandchildren, Steven, Shania, Sajan and Chance. He also touched the lives of 17 other foster grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, one sister, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends. Art moved to Brunkild area in 1947, married Lorraine Rathert on October 21, 1952 and took over his fathers farm at that time. Over the years he served on the Pool Board, Curling Club and was a cub leader. He was councillor for the Starbuck area from May 1974 to July 1979. At this time he retired from farming and moved into Sanford with his wife and two youngest kids. He was councillor of Sanford from 1981 to 1986. After retiring from farming he worked at Manitoba Sugar, Department of Highways and several positions for the R.M. of Macdonald. In October of 1990 he and Lorraine moved into Mandan Manor. During this time he spent many hours gardening, playing bingo and playing at the casinos. He also enjoyed many card games played with his family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. from the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Brunkild, MB, with Pastor Greg Fowlie-Neufeld officiating. Reception will follow the service with interment taking place in the Sanford Cemetery, at 4:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Roberta McPherson, Ellen McPherson, Andrew McPherson, Deborah Thiessen, David Thiessen, Ryan Thiessen, Gene and Marg Olson, and David Grabowsky. We would like to thank Dr. Tan of the Health Science and Dr. Kruk of Carman Memorial for their time and their care during dads brief illness. Also thank you to the nurses at Carman Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. Also thank you to Jan Serediuk, Doris and Nichole from home care, for the visits, guidance and help making dads last days at home as comfortable as possible.
